Anchorage, Alaska — Governor Mike Dunleavy unveiled his proposed budget for FY2026 to the public today during a Facebook live event.

House Republican Leader Rep. Mia Costello (R – Anchorage) said, “This session, we look forward to working with the Governor to craft a responsible budget along with meaningful legislation that will move Alaska forward. We share his goals of achieving better educational outcomes, improved public safety, and working towards affordable, abundant, and sustainable energy for all Alaskans.”

“With the changing dynamics in Washington and the continued focus on improving the lives of Alaskans, we have a tremendous opportunity ahead. We are also looking forward to hearing from our constituents and the public as the budget process continues,” Rep. Costello concluded.

“The Governor’s proposed operating budget is a starting point,” said Republican House Finance Committee Member Rep. DeLena Johnson (R – Palmer). “The House Republican finance members will diligently review the bill to better understand its mechanics and the impacts on Alaskans. We stand ready to work with the Governor, the Senate, the public, and all our colleagues in the House to pass the most responsible budget possible.”

Rep. Johnson emphasized the importance of a transparent and inclusive process.

“The House Republican finance team intend to ensure a robust public process in the Finance Committee. We will thoroughly vet the budget to identify where Alaskans will get the most value for their dollar,” she added. 

In addition to Rep. DeLena Johnson, the four other House Republican Finance Committee Members are Reps. Jamie Allard (R – Eagle River), Will Stapp (R – Fairbanks), Frank Tomaszewski (R – Fairbanks) and Rep-Elect Jeremy Bynum (R – Ketchikan).
