ALASKA HOUSE MAJORITY SEAL

Juneau — The Alaska House of Representatives today unanimously passed House Concurrent Resolution 6, recognizing the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Jubilee Underwood, honors the proud legacy of the Marine Corps and recognizes the extraordinary contributions of Marines, past and present, to Alaska, the nation, and the world.

November 10, 2025, will mark 250 years since the founding of the Marine Corps at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. HCR 6 celebrates the Marine Corps’ enduring values of honor, courage, and commitment, and calls on Alaskans to participate in commemorative events, share stories of Marine Corps heroism, and recognize the deep impact the Corps has had in shaping America’s history.

“Alaska is home to more veterans per capita than any other state,” said Representative Jubilee Underwood (R-Wasilla). “This resolution is about celebrating the legacy of the United States Marine Corps, and all of the Marines in Alaska who have answered the call of duty and continue to serve with distinction.”

The resolution also honors Navy corpsmen who served alongside Marines and made the ultimate sacrifice. It encourages communities across Alaska to engage with and support the Marine Corps and its members, many of whom continue to play a vital role in Alaska’s civic and military life.

“Marines don’t just serve on distant battlefields, they’re in our communities, our families, and our legislature,” said Rep. Underwood. “This resolution is a small but meaningful way to say thank you for 250 years of service, sacrifice and commitment, and to wish them 250 more. Happy Birthday and Semper Fi, Marines.”

The resolution now advances to the Alaska State Senate for consideration.
